NCIRE TO HOST FIFTH ANNUAL MEETING OF THE BRAIN AT WAR

The scientific understanding of how combat affects service members and Veterans - and how they will age as a result - is critical to the future of Veterans health.
The fifth annual meeting of The Brain at War, the nation's
leading conference on the neurocognitive consequences of combat, will feature discussions of:
- Neuroimaging designed to better diagnose the 'invisible' wounds of war
- Collaborations in integrative health and fitness for a new generation of Veterans
- Research with Vietnam-era Veterans that informs issues affecting OEF/OIF Veterans
- National collaborations to support Veterans on college campuses
Confirmed speakers include:
- Gen. Peter W. Chiarelli, USA (Ret.), former Vice Chief of Staff, US Army and CEO of One Mind for Research
- Colonel Karl E. Friedl, PhD, Director, US Army Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center
- Michael Weiner, MD, Director, Center for Imaging of Neurodegenerative Diseases, San Francisco VA Medical Center

On Thursday, June 23, 2011, NCIRE – The Veterans Health Research Institute presented The Brain at War at the Marines Memorial Club and Hotel in San Francisco, California. It was the fourth annual meeting of this national conference on the neurological and psychological wounds of combat.
